Class Dojo

How can you stay connected with your child in the classroom????

I am using Class Dojo to keep parents in the loop this year! I'll share wonderful moments – like when students work hard and help each other. Please connect with us by Monday! It's free and takes under a minute.
Benefits for parents
  • View their child's feedback points and teacher comments
  • See posts on Class Story and message privately with you
Benefits for students
  • View their own feedback points from class
  • Customize their monster to see in class
Check for a note inside your child's homework folder for steps on how to log on. Each child has their own "code" so you can only see your child's classroom behavior points.

PRIZE! Sign up by Monday and comment on this post that you registered and your child gets a free trip to the treasure box!

9/11

The morning of 9/11 we went into the hallway with the other 2nd grade classes and said the Pledge of Allegiance together and had a moment of silence. This is a special day to remember and we wanted to show respect to those who lost their lives and to their families.

First Few Weeks of School

After lots of technical difficulties with the blog it is officially up and running !! Although the first week of school has come and gone I still have some special pictures to share.

We have been working so hard in school and I must say I have the best 2nd grade class! Let's review what all we have been learning...

In language arts, we first learned about Fairy Tales and Tall Tales. We read lots of different fables and they all had a "theme message". We had fun with these fables when we retold them by acting them out.
We have moved into learning about Ancient Asian Civilization and now learning about Ancient Chinese Civilization. It has been very interesting and we have been really enjoying learning about different cultures and comparing them to our own.

In writing, we have been working on writing a Narrative story focusing on a small moment. Students have been working hard to add lots of  "sensory details" to their stories. Adding these "mushy gushy" details help stretch out a small moment into a story.

In math, we just finished up learning about number bonds. We worked hard learning new strategies on how to solve addition and subtraction problems. This week we started our new module focusing on measurement.

Check out some pictures of us hard at work...

Welcome to our class blog! We will be learning so much and participating in so many wonderful activities this year and I want you to know all about it! Please check back often for updates.

For now, its time to start stocking up on supplies. Below I have listed our 2015-2016 second grade supply list. At the bottom I have included my wish list. These items are not required but if you would like to donate them to our class, I would greatly appreciate it. Please do not label items (except the backpack and headphones) with your child's name.

If you have already purchased your school supplies, feel free to bring them in at Orientation or on the first day of school.
